j’écrivais dans un mail ce matin que je n’écoute plus que de la musique de vieux – de fait, c’est la troisième fois aujourd’hui que je passe mon cdr de ‘up on the sun’ –
j’écrivais aussi que c’était la bande son parfaite de cet épisode des simpsons dans lequel homer prend un piment du chili hallucinogène – en cherchant la référence exacte de l’épisode, je trouve ça :

At the annual Springfield Chili Cook-Off, Homer eats super-spicy chili made with a dangerous Guatemalan pepper grown by mental patients. The pepper has a powerful hallucinogenic effect and Homer wanders off into the darkest, strangest regions of his mind. Guided by a talking coyote, he goes on a voyage of self-discovery and realizes that he must find his soul mate. When he emerges from his fantastic trip, he returns home to Marge, who is furious at him for disappearing. Marge yells at Homer and tells him that she is not his soul mate, which sends Homer on another voyage to find out who is. Is Barney Homer’s soul mate? Is Moe? Is some guy who placed a personal ad? Homer wanders the streets of Springfield, eventually winding up at the lighthouse at the edge of town, under the impression that the lighthouse keeper is his soul mate. Ascending the stairs to the top of the lighthouse, Homer discovers that the lighthouse is operated by a computer. Enraged, Homer shatters the lighthouse’s giant light. As a giant barge approaches, Marge arrives on the scene and helps Homer save the boat. She then tells Homer that of course she’s his soul mate.

oui, guest star johnny cash – de la musique de vieux donc – et qu’on vienne pas me casser les couilles avec des histoires de american recordings, les reprises de NIN et de depeche mode – bref –
ensuite, comme mon laptop a maintenant une batterie cramée, je me suis vite retrouvée les bras ballants à la librairie, que je gardais ce matin, en écoutant les meat puppets à fond, donc – j’ai alors pris le bouquin que loïc m’avait montré la veille – celui dans lequel il avait lu quelques pages parlant (bien) des blue orchids, dont je venais de lui graver un cd (« je savais bien que ce nom me disait quelque chose » – le bouquin dit en gros que julian cope aurait mieux fait de dealer pour les blue orchids que de faire lui-même de la musique) –
je vois dans l’index qu’il y a genre un chapitre entier sur SST et je me dis « peut être qu’ils parlent des meat puppets ») – et oui, donc, évidemment, ils parlent des meat puppets, ils disent que ‘up on the sun’ est un album taré – de mémoire, il y a des expressions comme « enregistré la bave aux lèvres », « gavé de psylocibine », etc … –
donc, au delà du fait qu’un des frères kirkwood n’écoutait à cette période QUE duran duran, les deux principales inspirations des meat puppets semblent avoir été « the desert and the smoke » –

et voilà :
